I spy a link between recent posts on resistenlialism and the naming of
inanimate objects.

I never could give personal names to stuff..... even dolls. It always seemed too ridiculous.

Years ago I did name my daughter's ragdoll Rancid, but that was more of a pronoun, and led to some confusion with daughter being called Rancid throughout a brief stay in hospital, with the staff giving me askancerlies.

I do however issue clear warnings to certain household appliances which will misbehave if they can get away with it....so can be heard growling at the hoover ..'Don't even think about it!' and shrieking at the washing machine .. 'What do you think you're doing ?'

And I call other people's cars Wanker...

But everyone does that.
