This quote is from a book pulished in 1897, intended to be a guide to an agreeable afternoons outing in our neck of the woods. It describes principal features worthy of inspection in some rising hamlets.
Here's my hometown in a cockle shell :
'The village has nothing very prepossessing in its appearance - it is very sandy, very bare of trees, and smells very strongly of shrimps'
On the upside however, regarding the views :
'On the advent of rain the clouds above the Welsh mountains are beautiful; white clouds tinted slightly with silver separated by what look like dark gulleys, conjure a panorama of Alpine heights and crevasses'
